SUVs have been around a lot longer than crossovers and for good reason. Scott McCorkle, owner of Liberty Buick GMC, shared a bit of SUV knowledge that everyone buying an SUV should know.  He said, “People think the SUV and a Crossover are made the same way but nothing could be further from the truth.  SUVs are really made from a truck base and Crossovers start at the GM Plant using a car base.  People are always surprised that there is that much structural difference.” How StuffWorks.com backed his factoid up.  SUVs became popular in the 1990s in order to give the consumer more interior room as well as all the capabilities of a Pick-up. And Crossovers were developed for the family who wanted a SUV style vehicle without all the truck capabilities. Crossovers are made for the road. Whereas SUVs are made for adventure!

terrainThe Carolinas are perfect for an SUV. We’ve got the beach about 3.5 hours away and the mountains about 1.5 hour away. If you need towing capacity or trailering, an SUV is the way to go. Taking your boat to the lake or beach requires serious towing. Climbing a mountain to go skiing or just to enjoy the peaceful Blue Ridge, an SUV makes it an easy ride.

In recent years, the big, bulky uncomfortable SUVs of the 1990s have transformed into luxury vehicles. The GMC terrain is one such SUV. It is a smaller SUV which makes is great for everyday use, but it can also handle tough terrain and has towing capabilities. The GMC Terrain is made for weekends away with the guys. It has the most leg room in the 2nd row seating! The seats can move up or back a distance of eight inches. This means you can accommodate a tall guy in the back seat without his knees digging into your back. Or if you need more cargo space, you can move the seat up to fit in all your gear. The GMC Terrain is truly one of the best small SUVs on the market.
